One Sketch Becomes Three

December 16, 2017

This morning, I had an idea and sat down to sketch it out on an 11”x14” sheet of mixed media paper.

Before I started drawing it, I had an idea to do another design with the same base design and very similar overall design. As I was working on drawing both of those designs, I had yet another idea for another piece with a somewhat-similar base design.

I finished the first design, and moved onto the second idea. I couldn’t figure out how to draw the design I had in my head, so I moved onto the third idea.

After I had finished the design from my third idea, I went back to the second one.  I spent a little more time trying to figure out how to draw it. However, I ended up scrapping the idea and came up with a different overall design while still using the same base design.

So what started as one idea turned into three different designs that will become scribble artworks.

In the image, from left to right, is the first idea, the third idea, and the one that started out as the second idea.
