ArtByTroyThomas Changes: Past, Present, and Future

November 22, 2019

I need to make some changes. I am sure you can accept that.

Just last week, I deleted the storefront from this website.  It costs a lot of money to keep a storefront on the site and I wasn't making enough money to justify keeping it.  Maybe later after I start getting a lot more and consistent sales, I can add it back for your convenience.

Currently, I am thinking about changing the overall look of this site.  The only reason I haven't done it yet, is because that will take away from the time that I like to spend creating art. Maybe soon.  Is there anything that you would like to see different on this site?

As of right now, I only have galleries showing the drawings that I have done over the last ten years.  I also do quite a bit of painting, and I like to dabble in photography.  Probably the main reason I don't have any galleries showing my paintings on this site, is because it is very difficult for me to get a good picture of the paintings.  I don't have a set-up with good lighting to get the acceptable-quality photos.  I will have to try to figure something out to start showing my paintings. And as far as the photography is concerned, even though I have sold some photographs in the past, I have a hard time calling myself a photographer.

Some other changes that I am thinking about making, is to increase the amount of blog posts.  In addition to discussing the art that I am working on, I would like to start doing some product reviews, such as art supplies and art books.  I even have some thoughts about some not-so-artsy posts, but still a tad related to art since this is an art website.

To be completely transparent, one of the reasons I want to start doing reviews on art products, is to make a little bit of extra money from affiliate sales.  If I want to be able to quit my day job to become a full-time artist, I need to be able to find other ways to supplement my income.  To give you an understanding of how affiliate sales work, I will get a commission on purchases made through links that I have posted.  There is no additional charge or markup on any of the products in the links, I just get a very small percentage of the sale for sending customers to that particular site.  If you have a popular blog or YouTube channel, I would recommend that you look into this also, if you are not already doing so.

I would love to hear any feedback that you have about anything mentioned in this blog post.

Have a great and artful day!
