Calavera 1 - Digital Reinterpretation | Colorful Skull Fine Art Print
from $35.00
"Calavera 1" is a digital reinterpretation of an original ballpoint pen artwork created in 2017. Based on the traditional calavera form, the composition combines a recognizable skull with the geometric shapes, repeated elements, dense linework, and bold color relationships that characterize much of my abstract work.
The skull emerges from a warm, textured background in layers of turquoise, green, violet, orange, yellow, and blue. Oversized circular eyes dominate the composition, while smaller ovals, arcs, repeated shapes, and symmetrical details create a decorative structure across the face. Rather than pursuing anatomical realism, the piece treats the skull as a framework for pattern, color, and visual experimentation.
The digital reinterpretation intensifies the original ballpoint textures, transforming thousands of small pen marks into a richly mottled surface. Areas of color that appear relatively solid from a distance reveal intricate networks of marks when viewed more closely, preserving the handmade character of the original drawing while giving the digital version its own distinct presence.
Professionally reproduced on museum-quality archival paper, this fine art print preserves the saturated colors, intricate textures, and unusual details of the digital composition. Its combination of figurative imagery and abstract pattern makes it an expressive addition to eclectic, contemporary, maximalist, or color-focused interiors.
A colorful meeting of symbolic imagery and hand-drawn pattern, transformed through texture, symmetry, and geometric detail.
